Movin' On Up

If you were to reach the max rank right now in game (Lieutenant Colonel Grade 3), you would find that after you fill up your bar, you cannot gain any more credits.  Your rank would not go up, and nothing would change, even after completing games/challenges.  Well, this is only a temporary thing Bungie is doing with the level "cap", and soon the whole gaming community will have this ceiling taken away.
Lets cover some basics first:

• The reason Bungie has this in place is to essentially prevent any secret items/armor/"stuff" from being exposed soon than it should.  People illegally boosting through the ranks would have been able to see all of these things way before Bungie expects the population to unlock them.  With the cap in place, even if someone boosted, they would only get to Lt. Colonel Grade 3.  Also, this gives everyone else in the world the chance to catch up to those super-hardcore players that reached Lt. Colonel in a week.
• Bungie released information saying that the vast majority of online players are only in the Warrant Officer stages. This will not effect most of the population.

Buts here's what happening:

Once 117 MILLION Weekly and Daily challenges are completed, the level cap will be bumped up.  Instantly, new ranks and armor will be available.  And all those people who are at level cap and not getting any cR- your efforts are not in vain.  Bungie has tracked all of the credits you have earned and will bump you up to the according level.  You may even skip a few levels once this happens depending on how much you have played.
